Gerard A. Britton is a seasoned civil litigator with years of experience representing individuals in complex medical malpractice and personal injury cases. Mr. Britton was associated with one of New York City’s leading medical malpractice defense firms for ten years, prior to the formation of Targum & Britton, PLLC. His experience as a defense attorney has given him the perspective and insight into the manner in which defense firms represent their clients, and his background serves him well in preparing for and conducting depositions, and how to best represent the interest of the clients the firm represents.
He believes that preparation, organization, and an attention to details, from the earliest stages of a case, through its conclusion, are key to successful and aggressive representation of Targum & Britton’s clients.
Mr. Britton attended Fordham College, receiving his B.A. degree in 1988, and received his juris doctor degree from the Fordham University School of Law in 1991. Mr. Britton is a member of the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers, and has been a partner of the firm Targum & Britton, since 2005.
For the first ten years of his practice he was associated with one New York City's leading medical malpractice defense firms. His backround as a defense attorney now serves him well in conducting the majority of T & B depositions, in that his experience as a defense lawyer gives him insight into how the defense attorneys will attempt to create a defense for their clients and how best to represent the interests of T&B's injured client. He believes that preparation beginning at the earliest stages of a case is key to representing the firm's clients and involves painstakingly examining medical records and transcripts of testimony so that the firm's clients can be agressively represented.
